I felt free in there-like we were all in on a secret that nobody else knew about. I never thought I could feel so safe in a two-story building filled with hunky men.īut I had the best time in the mainly lesbian clubs we went to. In one of the latter ones, we were treated like queens for being the only women there. Some of the bars were full of women, others were packed with men. I just wanted to enjoy being there with my friends, and pop from one bar to the next, so I wasn't focused on meeting someone. I had recently come out, so my closest friends and I decided to go for a night out in Madrid's gay district, Chueca.
